Up, up and away!

It's a bird. It's a plane. It's......a finished project!!

A superhero cape for a friend's daughter. She'll be turning five soon and the cape was a special request. Her favorite colors are red and yellow, and her name starts with an "S", so this seems to fit the bill. (I used the applique from this tutorial.)

My super model likes this cape, but has asked for a Batman cape of his own.

How can I resist?

Just keep swimming....Just keep swimming....

My little Goldfishie started swim lessons this week.

Here he is. All ready to go. He's been so excited about his new goggles that he's been wearing them while watching TV!

He is very comfortable and confident in the water. The class can have up to 4 students, but so far, he's the only one. It's very nice to be getting private swim lessons for a group price.

Thank you for all the Get Well wishes! I'm definitely feeling better. I have several sewing projects coming due fairly soon, so it's back to sewing tomorrow. Or maybe Friday.....

A Smiley Face

I've been a bit under the weather the last few days. Haven't touched my sewing machine since Tuesday and I have quite a To Do List right now.

Nathan is doing his best to nurse me back to health. Including giving me big happy smiles. Thought I'd share with you all.

Be back soon. :)

WIP....Done!

The WIP that I've been posting about is now done! Which explains why it's been a bit quiet here.

Nathan's teacher has been called to active duty for the Navy and today was her last day at school. I wanted to do something special for her and have each of the kids participate somehow. This is what I came up with:

I cut a thrifted Egyptian cotton sheet into squares and had each of the kids draw a picture with Sharpies. (I LOVE Sharpies for this kind of thing!)

Blue and orange are the school colors, so fabric selection was fairly simple. I wanted the sashing to be simple, so that the artwork would be the focus. I also appliqued the school initials on the bottom right corner, but covered them for the photo. (safety reasons)

There's also a label on the back, which I forgot to take a photo of.

As predicted, I was up 'til 2:00 a.m. working on the quilt. And it still wasn't done! Luckily, I had a couple hours this morning before the going away party. I put in the last tie at 11:50. Rushed to pick up the cake. And made it to school just in time for the party!

So....done. Blogged. Going to take a nap!

Yum! Yum! Yum!

Strawberries, fresh from a local roadside stand.

Plus homemade shortcake.

Equals.......Happy Birthday to me!

Then there was a knock on the door and this lovely basket was delivered. It's from my husband and it's full of all kinds of chocolate goodness.

Chocolate and Chocolate and Chocloate. OH MY!!!

Thank you honey!

And now, my dear Son is "taking me out for a nice dinner" to celebrate my birthday.

He suggested his favorite pizza place.

Um....I don't think so.

We'll have to negotiate on the way.

At least I've got plenty of grown-up chocolate to indulge in later. :)

WIP update

The cutting is done! Now, on to the stitching.....

Friday, April 4, 2008

Finally....a WIP!

Not much to show yet, but I have actually started on a new sewing project!

I have the idea in my head and on paper. Sort of. And most of the "creative" part is done. I have plenty of cutting and stitching ahead of me.

Oh, and a deadline to meet.

Ten days.

Yep, that pile of fabric has to be pressed, cut, stitched, pressed again, stitched some more, put together and wrapped up beautifully in ten days.

Fortunately, I work well under pressure.

Stay tuned!
